Instead of the epic biopic implied by the title and lengthy running time, Tony Kushner’s screenplay for Lincoln, inspired by Doris Kearns Goodwin’s Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, mercifully crops the endeavor to one sharp moment in the political career of the Great Emancipator.
